The theft of the source code for Half-Life 2 has yielded fallout: a delay of the game until April 2004 so Valve developers can rewrite significant portions of the game. The biggest concern isn’t so much theft of the game itself (only a portion of the game code was taken), but the opportunity that open source provides to hackers who can develop cheats for multiplayer games.
