Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been named the 2016-2017 Europa League Player of the Season.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also among the short list of players considered but Pogba, who helped United win the Europa League for the first time in the club’s history this year, took the honors.
“Thank you,” said Pogba, who did not attend the ceremony.
“I’m really honored to be the first to win the best player for the UEFA Europa League” Pogba said.
“Hopefully this season will be as good as last season. Let’s see!”
Pogba started all 15 of United’s games in the competition last season and scored three goals.
